Scoutcraft & Climbing
Every sub-camp has a Scoutcraft—an area dedicated to teaching Scouts important outdoor scouting skills, such as lashing, pioneering, wilderness survival, camping, and climbing.
- All Scoutcraft areas have pioneering structures and an obstacle course built entirely out of trees and poles, lashed together with pioneering skills.
- Each Scoutcraft area also has a 38 foot, four-sided Climbing Tower, on which the staff teach Climbing merit badge, troops can sign up for troop climbs, and adult leaders can become Climbing Certified.
- Scouts can also show up during an open climb for a chance to test their climbing skills on the tower.
- Many Scoutcraft merit badges are offered—including Camping, Climbing, and Pioneering, among others—as well as Handicraft skills, such as woodcarving and leatherwork, typical merit badge choices for first year scouts.
- The Scoutcraft structures and obstacles is always open, as is the knot rack, which serves as a great place to challenge a friend in knot-tying skills.
